Jazz Groups
We can provide groups
of from two to six musicians, providing foot-tapping music, or dreamy
backgrounds, with or without male and female vocals, and we can
provide swing dancers who can give introductory
classes to the Lindy-Hop and Charleston and generally interact with
the audience to get people onto the dance floor and contribute to
the success of your event.
These bands are ideal for background music, boat trips, weddings and corporate receptions, parties, and college balls.
The smallest lineup available is:
Tenor saxophone (doubling
flute and clarinet) + Piano
To this can be added:
Double bass
Drums
Trumpet
Trombone
We also work regularly
with a number of male and female vocalists who sing in the "Rat-Pack"
style.
Our bands specialize in
the songbooks of Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday,
George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Rogers & Hart,
Jerome Kern, Harry Warren, Jimmy van Heusen, and the other great
song-writers and performers of the Twentieth-Century.
Recently there has been
an upsurge of interest in swing-style music because of albums in
this style by Phil Collins, Robbie Williams and Rod Stewart and
Jamie Cullum and we can provide most of thesongs from their albums.
Have a look at our sample
tune-list, which will give you some idea of the kinds of things
we can do. Our actual repertoire is vast and covers most styles
and periods of jazz.
Live
Public Performances by our Jazz Bands
Most of our work is at
private events, and it is often difficult to invite a prospective
client to them, but we do sometimes play at events to which the public have access. For instance we are currently playing at Cliveden House for their monthly Pimms Cruise & Jazz Lunch.
