You made a very special day even better...” Ben & Niki Music usually plays a large part in each stage of a wedding and it's important to get the choice of music right for each part as the day progresses. We can tailor the music exactly to your needs throughout the day. This is the first part of the day you need to consider. The groom and guests arrive, the guests take their seats and await the arrival of the bride - so you need to think about what style of music you would like playing while they're waiting. We have occasionally played for as much as an an hour whilst waiting for the bride to arrive! We suggest something which is not too intrusive - either background jazz, solo classical piano, or our classical trio. “...We absolutely loved the ceremony music...it was very special..” Alex Bridal Procession. This will obviously be in the same location. You need to consider the entrance. In a traditional church setting, it can take a minute or two to get to the altar - so there's more chance of having a substantial piece of music. In a room in a hotel the procession can be over much sooner! But in either case you will need a piece of music that will catch the attention of the guests and which will clearly stand out from the background music which has been playing up to that point. Everyone will know the two most popular entrance pieces - Here Comes The Bride and The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, but you don't have to have the music that every one else has! There is absolutely nothing to stop you from having any piece you like at this point. We can advise you carefully on this. The Signing of the Register This part of the ceremony often lasts longer than most people realize - photos are often taken at this stage, too - so if there is any music that is of especial significance to you and which you want your guests to hear, then this is where it should be played. The Exit of The Couple This is where the triumphant cheerful music needs to be played. Traditionally, of course, it is the Wedding Music from Mendelsohns Midsummer Night's Dream, but again, it really can be anything you want! “Your playing was beautiful and really made the ceremony!” Lisa
This is when the bride and groom can take a breath and relax - it's time to meet and greet your guests! Here you need something that is not too intrusive but lively, and will create a warm and friendly ambience. Remember that you are probably spending some of this time having your photographs taken, so you won't hear all the music at this point, but it's important to think of what you'd like your guests to hear. We've found that the most popular style of music for this part of the day is either background jazz, or background latin. “Hearing my favourite jazz playing was really something...a highlight of the wedding!” AH Wedding Breakfast Once again it's important to get the mood right here. Conversation is usually quiet while the guests await the entrance of the bride and groom to the dining area. Then the couple enter, sometimes to a fanfare, and as the guests start to eat and drink the conversation sound level rises, and it's important to make sure that the background music is just that - neither too quiet nor too loud! Speeches usually come at the end of the Wedding Breakfast. You definitely won't want any music here! The First Dance Sometimes the First Dance occurs at the end of the Wedding Breakfast, sometimes later in the evening during the general dancing - but it's always a good idea to choose a piece you feel comfortable with. For a unique and special touch, the bride and groom can have their first dance specially choreographed for them, and we can help here by putting you in touch with either our salsa dance or our swing dance teachers. Everyone has their own idea of the style of dancing they want to end the day, so it's important to consider this carefully.
